12 Major Car Companies Hit With Brake Patent Suit

Law360, New York (April 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Electronic brake manufacturer 55 Brake LLC launched a suit against a bevy of major automakers Monday, alleging widespread infringement of its patent for an electronic parking brake system.

The complaint, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, alleges the car manufacturers – Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Ford, Hyundai, Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo – violate as many as 10 claims of 55 Brake's patent on an electronic parking brake system.
