BigLaw Hourly Rates Dwarf Rivals' Across The Board

By Andrew Strickler (May 28, 2014, 7:52 PM EDT) -- The biggest U.S. law firms are commanding billing rates that are astoundingly higher than their smaller rivals — with the largest law firms charging an average of about 30 percent more than midsize firms, according to a billing rate survey released Wednesday.

The Billing Rate Reference 2014, a new report jointly created by Law360 and BTI Consulting Group Inc., shows the largest firms charging an average rate that's over 30 percent higher than what attorneys at firms one tier down in size charge, and a whopping 54.3 percent higher than what lawyers at small firms charge.
