Comments Question Parts Of SEC Proposal

Law360, New York (April 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Though the newly proposed changes to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's rules for foreign private issuers are expected to be implemented with few changes, some firms and companies have expressed doubts about certain aspects of the guidelines.

The SEC accepted comments for the proposal, which aims to ease the regulations for foreign private issuers seeking an exemption from the agency's disclosure rules, through April 25.

And though the comments thus far were largely positive, some commenters questioned the SEC's proposal.
