PhRMA Booted From Suit Over Maine Drug Importation Law

Law360, Los Angeles (June 4, 2014, 10:40 PM EDT) -- A Maine federal judge recently booted the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America from a lawsuit challenging a 2013 state law allowing direct importation of prescription drugs, ruling that the trade group failed to plead a concrete, impending injury from the law.

In a May 15 decision, U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen dismissed PhRMA from the suit for lack of standing, but allowed two Maine pharmacists' groups and a pair of individual pharmacists to proceed.
