FTC Issues Final Order After Chicago Hospital Merger

Law360, New York (April 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has ordered Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Corp. to negotiate with health insurers separately from its subsidiary Highland Park Hospital in order to restore competition to the suburban Chicago health care sector.

Eight months after ruling that ENH's acquisition of Highland violated federal antitrust laws, the FTC issued its final order Monday, directing the health care network to establish independent contract-negotiating teams from that of its onetime rival.
