Europe, U.S. To Ride 'Patent Prosecution Highway'

Law360 (April 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office continues to partner with foreign agencies to speed up the patent application process through the so-called Patent Prosecution Highway, this time piloting the program with authorities in Europe.

The USPTO and the European Patent Office announced Monday they plan to launch the information-sharing initiative on a one-year trial basis starting in September to see whether the arrangement successfully speeds the examination process and reduces the agencies' workloads.
