Sutherland Asbill Says Layoffs Fewer Than Reported

Law360, New York (April 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The managing partner of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan has confirmed rumors that the 480-lawyer firm is laying off associates but says the number of lawyers who have been handed pink slips is much less than has been reported on legal blogs.

Sutherland Asbill's managing partner, Mark D. Wasserman, told the Fulton County Daily Report on Thursday that the firm had trimmed its associate ranks by asking fewer than 15 attorneys to leave, a number that is far less than reported last week by the legal tabloid...
