Solae Sues ADM, Amerifit Over Soy Supplement Patents

Law360, New York (December 8, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Agricultural company Solae Co. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Archer Daniels Midland and Amerifit Nutrition Inc.

The suit alleges that ADM and Amerifit infringed on Solae's patents for soy isoflavone health supplements. It follows the granting of a new patent, issued to Australia-based Novogen Ltd., for which Solae holds licenses.

Novagen's patent covers health supplements based on the use of soy isoflavones in tablet or capsule form. ADM makes Novasoy isoflavones found in many supplement brands.
