E.U. Mulls Suit Regarding French Takeover Policy

Law360 (February 28, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Union is considering legal action against the French government amid complaints about inadequate responses to what the Commission charges is France’s protectionist behavior concerning foreign takeovers.

Last month the Commission, concerned that the French government was showing favor to its own companies in comparison with foreign ones, sent a letter to France requesting a more detailed explanation of the country’s decree of foreign investment and its activities regarding foreign business deals.
