Baby Bottle Makers Face $1B Consumer Action

Law360, New York (May 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A billion-dollar purported class action has targeted five baby bottle makers over the use of bisphenol A, which has been linked to a number of health problems, in plastic baby bottles and toddler training cups.

The suit, filed on behalf of consumers in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri on Wednesday, accuses Avent America, Dr. Brown’s, Evenflo, Gerber Products Co. and Playtex of failing to disclose that the chemical, known as BPA, could pose risks to an infant’s brain and sexual development....
