Thailand Asks Nike to Host Trademark Summit

Law360, New York (October 14, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Thailand has called for the concerted effort of international trademark owners to help pool resources to deal with intellectual property infringement, the Bangkok Post reported Tuesday.

Officials with the Intellectual Property Department asked U.S. sportswear maker Nike to host a meeting of international trademark owners to work out comprehensive strategies to address the problem, according to the newspaper. Nike has 87 factories for subcontracted manufacturing works in Thailand and is the official sponsor of the APEC Summit on Oct. 18-21 in Bangkok.
