Microsoft Takes Legal Battle over Lindows to Europe

Law360, New York (December 8, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Taking its battle against Lindows overseas, lawyers for Microsoft sent letters threatening legal action to Lindows.com and several PC manufacturers in in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Sweden, CNET News reported Monday.

In the letters, Microsoft's lawyers claimed that the use of the Lindows name infringes on Microsoft trademarks in those countries. They demanded that Lindows.com and its resellers stop offering the software in those countries immediately or face unspecified "legal action," according to CNET.
