Bacterial Taint Prompts Meat Recall

Law360, New York (May 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Queens, N.Y.-based food company has recalled thousands of pounds of chicken and meatloaf due to possible contamination with Listeria bacteria.

Gourmet Boutique LLC voluntarily recalled 286,320 pounds of its products on Saturday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced. Recalled products include various types of chicken salad, tortillas and beef burritos sold under the Gourmet Boutique, Archers Farms and Jan's.

According to the USDA, the fresh meat products were produced between April 19 and 24, and the frozen products were produced between last October and April...
