Inversions Hit New High In Last Decade, Dems Say

Law360, New York (July 8, 2014, 4:41 PM EDT) -- There have been 47 corporate inversions in the last decade, more than the prior 20 years combined, according to new data presented by House Democrats on Monday.

Since McDermott International's inversion in 1983, there have been a total of 76 other corporate inversions — in which companies use a merger or acquisition to move overseas and lower their tax burdens — by U.S. companies, but more than half have occurred in the last 10 years, House Ways and Means Committee ranking member Sander Levin, D-Mich., said in a statement.
