DOL Sues Postal Service Alleging Whistleblower Retaliation

Law360, New York (July 15, 2014, 4:14 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Postal Service retaliated against a Missouri employee and falsely accused him of making a terrorist threat after he reported unsafe working conditions, the U.S. Department of Labor alleged in a lawsuit announced Monday.

The DOL said in a statement Monday that it has sued the USPS in Missouri federal court, alleging the Postal Service retaliated against longtime employee Thomas Purviance in violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Act's whistleblower provisions.
