FTC Tries To Stop Virginia Hospital Deal

Law360, New York (May 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has moved to block Inova Health System Foundation's acquisition of Prince William Health System Inc. because the deal could result in higher health care prices, according to the FTC.

The FTC voted 3-0 Thursday to approve an administrative complaint challenging the deal between the nonprofit health care systems.

The commission said its staff will head to federal court with the Virginia attorney general's office to seek a preliminary injunction to block the deal pending a full administrative trial.
