Office Depot Faces Patent Suit Over GPS Holders

Law360, New York (May 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A German maker of automotive accessories has accused Office Depot Inc. and Maxx Digital Ltd. of infringing two of its patents with a Global Positioning System.

The suit was filed Wednesday in the Eastern District of Virginia by Harald Richter, the president and CEO of Herbert Richter Metallwaren-Apparatebau GmbH & Co. KG.

Richter claims that the Maxx Digital Explorer I GPS system, which is sold at Office Depot, infringes patents his company possesses for dashboard mounting devices.
