Bayer, Monsanto Agree To Settle Suits, Cross-License Herbicides

Law360, New York (October 14, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bayer CropScience AG and Monsanto Company agreed to settle several long-pending lawsuits and resolve several outstanding patent disputes between the companies, the companies said in a statement.

The companies agreed to cross-license each other under their respective patent estates for herbicide tolerance and insect resistance technologies. In part, this agreement enables broader farmer access to glufosinate-tolerant and glyphosate-tolerant crops, according to the statement released by the company.
