Tax Reform Can Wait, Inversion Fix Cannot, Attys Say

Law360, New York (August 1, 2014, 4:14 PM EDT) -- A recent onslaught of inversion deals is widening political debate over the strength and adequacy of the U.S. tax system, but as the nation's corporate tax base continues to shrink with each completed deal, attorneys say lawmakers should handle inversions now and fix the rest of the tax code later.

President Barack Obama wants a two-year moratorium on the deals, and in the past few months, lawmakers have followed suit with proposals that would enact that moratorium or block inverted companies from winning U.S. government contracts....
