EU Vows To Appeal WTO Ruling On Banana Imports

Law360, New York (May 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission vowed Tuesday to appeal the World Trade Organization's Monday decision that European banana imports continue to violate international trade law.

The European Commission said it would appeal the WTO's opinion that the European Union improperly favors banana exporters from former colonies in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific over competitors in Latin America and has failed to remedy this imbalance.
