Monsanto, Syngenta Settle Disputes In License Deal

Law360 (May 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Monsanto Co. has agreed to license its herbicide resistance and genetically modified soybean technology to rival Syngenta AG, settling all patent and antitrust disputes between the two companies, Monsanto and Syngenta announced Friday.

In addition to a royalty-bearing license on Monsanto's herbicide resistance-enabling technology and soon-to-be-released Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybean technology, Syngenta will get more favorable marketing conditions for a genetic modification to corn, without paying a royalty.
