Senate Committee To Consider SEC Nominees

Law360, New York (May 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs has scheduled a confirmation hearing for next Tuesday to consider the three pending nominees to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The SEC is run by five commissioners, but there are currently two empty seats. A third commissioner, Paul Atkins, has said he will leave the agency after his term ends in June. He added, however, that he would remain in office if a successor is not appointed before then.
