RWE Eyes Divestiture Of Gas Pipelines

Law360, New York (May 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Germany's RWE AG reportedly may sell about 4,300 miles of gas pipelines in an effort to appease European Union energy regulators and avoid a hefty fine for allegedly excluding potential rivals from markets in its home state.

The country's second biggest utility and the European Commission said Thursday that they were discussing “possible measures” to end an investigation into whether RWE restricted access to its natural-gas network, according to German newspaper Handelsblatt.
