Jury Fines Dow $2.85M For 'Malicious' Lawsuit

Law360, New York (May 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Eight years after Dow Chemical Corp. filed an unsuccessful patent infringement suit against cooling system maker Mee Industries Inc., a Florida jury has found the chemical giant liable for malicious prosecution and ordered it to pay Mee at least $2.85 million.

The jury's verdict, handed down Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, is the latest chapter in the companies' long-running dispute over a system to augment power production in gas turbines.
