Sharp And Teco Reach Settlement Over LCD Patent

Law360, New York (March 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Familiar rivals in the flat-screen technology industry, Japan’s Sharp Corp. and Taiwan’s Teco Electric & Machinery Co. made amends in a settlement Wednesday over an alleged violation of a patent relating to liquid-crystal displays by a Teco unit in Japan.

After Sharp, a consumer electronics maker, and the Japanese unit of Teco, a home electronic appliances manufacturer, dropped all related lawsuits, Sharp asked Tokyo Customs to void the current ban of imports of Teco televisions to Japan. Teco believes the deal will help it sell more...
