Close To Deal, Milberg Asks Coughlin To Kick In

Law360, New York (June 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Milberg LLP is reportedly close to settling long-running federal charges that it paid kickbacks to lead class action plaintiffs, in a $75 million deal the law firm hopes will include a partial payment from Milberg spin-off Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins LLP.

The news, reported on Monday by the Wall Street Journal, came the same day that former Milberg partner Melvyn Weiss was sentenced to 30 months in prison and ordered to forfeit $10 million by Judge John F. Walter of the U.S. District District...
