Toyota Throws Another Punch In Hybrid Feud

Law360, New York (March 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Japanese automaker Toyota is striking back at a small transmission company that sued the auto giant last year in Germany for hybrid transmission design patent infringement, this week initiating a countersuit against Antonov Automotive Technology BV in a Japanese court.

Antonov, a Dutch technology and licensing company, first bared its teeth at Toyota last April in a bid to protect its prized transmission patent. The technology is used in the transmissions of Toyota’s popular Prius hybrid sedan.
