Judge Sticks Dow, Rockwell With $926M In Damages

Law360, New York (June 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal court has ordered Dow Chemical Co. and the former Rockwell International Corp. to shell out $926 million to tens of thousands of Colorado residents who lived near a defunct nuclear plant where the two firms once worked as contractors.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado’s ruling on Monday came nearly 18 years after residents filed suit against the companies for operating the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons facility that they claimed jeopardized their health and diminished their property value.
