Boston Scientific Merger Delayed Over EC Concerns

Law360, New York (March 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Medical device maker Boston Scientific Corp.’s commitments to alleviate antitrust concerns at the European Commission may ultimately delay the long-awaited purchase of the company by rival Guidant Corp.

Boston Scientific had hoped to complete the $27 billion transaction during the first week of April. The company has now indicated its commitments with the Commission may push that to as late as April 13.

While the difference in time is fairly small considering the drawn-out nature of the entire deal, but Boston Scientific agreed to pay Guidant...
