CORRECTED: Automakers Awarded $3.8M In Fees In Patent Case

Law360, New York (June 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- DaimlerChrysler Corp. and Mercedes-Benz USA Inc. have won about $3.8 million in attorneys' fees at the end of a complicated Internet patent dispute with two holding companies, though they lost a bid for a permanent injunction and additional sanctions.

A jury ruled in March that holding company Orion IP LLC had breached its warranty in transferring certain claims of a patent to holding company Taurus IP LLC despite a 2006 settlement with DaimlerChrysler and Mercedes-Benz pledging not to do such a thing.
