Jury Hands Mentor $36M Patent Win Against Synopsys

By Kat Greene (October 10, 2014, 9:55 PM EDT) -- An Oregon federal jury awarded Mentor Graphics Corp. $36 million plus royalties in a sprawling dispute with rivals Synopsys Inc. and Emulation & Verification Engineering SA, finding Friday that they infringed a simulation technology patent.

The jury found that Synopsys and EVE directly and indirectly infringed at least five claims of Mentor Graphics' U.S. Patent No. 6,240,376, and that they contributed to infringement of those claims with two different products, according to a copy of the verdict filed Friday.
