MPEG-2 Patent Holders Accuse Comag Of Infringing

Law360, New York (June 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- German electronics manufacturer Comag Handels AG was broadsided Monday by several electronics giants, including Sony Corp., Samsung Electronics Co. and GE Technology Development Inc., which accuse the company of infringing patents related to digital video compression technologies.

The actions, filed in District Court in Dusseldorf, Germany, by Koninklijke Philips, allege that Comag imports and distributes to German retailers products such as digital television set-top boxes that infringe on patented MPEG-2 digital video compression technology.
