Green Groups To Sue U.S. Over Polar Bear Listing

Law360, New York (June 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two conservation groups have indicated their intent to sue the U.S. Department of the Interior for not limiting oil and gas development as part of its decision to list the polar bear as a threatened species.

In a statement released Monday, the Center for Biological Diversity and Pacific Environment said the Bush administration had opened up nearly all of the polar bear's habitat in northern Alaska to leasing by oil companies.
