Suez Looks To EC For Help With Enel

Law360, New York (March 28, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- French energy company Suez SA has looked to European Commission regulators for help in its battle against a possible takeover by Italian company Enel SPA. Suez filed a complaint with the Commission alleging that Enel policies illegally protect it from takeover.

Suez said in a statement that it had complained to regulators about certain Enel measures that prevent another company from seizing control of the Italian energy provider. These measures include limiting other shareholders to just 3% of voting rights in the company.
