Duke Wins OK For $160M In Costs For Nuclear Plant

Law360, New York (June 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- North Carolina’s utilities regulator has granted Duke Energy Carolinas LLC’s request for support of an additional $160 million in predevelopment costs for a nuclear reactor project that will serve the Carolinas.

The approval by the North Carolina Utilities Commission on Wednesday came several days after the state utility regulator in South Carolina approved a similar measure, Duke representative Paige Sheehan said Thursday.

Duke asked the two states to allow the company to incur predevelopment costs of $230 million from 2005 until 2009.
