Sen. Grassley Calls For FDA Probe Of Paxil

Law360, New York (June 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) has asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to inspect a report from its British counterpart that found GlaxoSmithKline has known for a decade about increased suicide risks in adolescents who use its anxiety drug Paxil.

In a letter sent Thursday, Grassley asked the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the FDA commissioner to determine whether the company withheld safety information in the United States as well.
