Motorola Unit Files Suit Over Hand-Held Computers

Law360, New York (June 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Motorola Inc. subsidiary Symbol Technologies Inc. filed a lawsuit last week alleging that Janam Technologies LLC ran roughshod over Symbol's intellectual property rights when it started offering Windows-operating-system-based hand-held mobile computers.

Symbol filed its suit on June 9 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. The company makes hand-held mobile computers for commercial users.

Symbol's hand-held devices have bar code scanning and wireless capabilities, and many models are designed to be tough enough to withstand being dropped, Symbol's complaint says.
