As Strike Looms, UAW Expects Delphi To Toss Contract

Law360, New York (March 30, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- As tense negotiations continued this week between bankrupt auto-parts supplier Delphi Corp. and the United Auto Workers union, the threat of a crippling strike is looming after union officials rejected an offer by Delphi that included a 35% pay cut in hourly wages.

For weeks, Delphi has said that a failure to reach an agreement with the union by March 30 would result in the company’s bid to void its contract with the UAW and sacrifice heath care and post-retirement benefits for its workers.
