PTO To Raise International Patent Application Fees

Law360, New York (June 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has proposed an increase in certain fees for international patent applications in order to recover its costs and help prepare search reports in a more timely manner.

The proposed rule, published Wednesday in the Federal Register, would raise the transmittal fee for international patent applications from $300 to $415. It would raise the search fee and supplemental search fee for international patent applications from $1,800 to $2,225.
