Monsanto, Licensees Sued For False Patent Marking

Law360, New York (June 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A nonprofit farm group in North Carolina has filed suit against Monsanto Co. claiming that the agricultural company's genetically modified soybean seeds are sold in bags that bear false patent markings.

The North Carolina Farmers' Assistance Fund Inc., a nonprofit group formed in April, brought the qui tam suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina against Monsanto and a handful of other companies licensed to sell the seeds.
