Kroger To Pay $16M To Settle Race Bias Suit

Law360 (June 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Kroger Co. will pay $16 million to settle a long-running racial discrimination lawsuit brought by 12 current and former employees who claim the grocery chain blocked the promotion of black employees and paid them less than white employees.

Plaintiffs in the case, which was filed in 2001, said in court documents filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky the parties entered into a consent decree that settles the lawsuit.
