Credit Woes Hinder Hedge Fund Launches: Report

Law360, New York (June 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Increasing credit concerns and a slowing economy have resulted in the lowest number of hedge fund launches since 2000, says a new report from Hedge Fund Research Inc. The number of hedge fund liquidations, meanwhile, is rising.

Hedge fund liquidations jumped 20% in the first quarter of 2008 over the same time period in 2007, the Chicago-based research group said in its quarterly report released Thursday.
