ACCC Lobs Criminal Claims Against Visy Owner

Law360, New York (June 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Australia's competition authority kicked off a criminal prosecution against the owner of Visy Holdings Ltd. on Friday, alleging that he gave the regulator false or misleading evidence during its investigation into a cardboard box cartel.

Richard Pratt, one of Australia's richest men, is accused of providing the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission with deceitful information in 2005, when the regulator convened a number of examinations into Visy's business dealings.
