White House Settles Suit Over Medicare, Medicaid

Law360 (June 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Under a new settlement, the Bush administration on Thursday promised to provide protections for low-income Medicare beneficiaries and ensure that they no longer have to wait weeks for subsidized prescription drug coverage.

The settlement hopes to fix the problems that led to a breakdown in services for beneficiaries. It addresses chronic problems related to information management in the Medicare Part D program by having the government change its computer system and allow states to submit names of new low-income Medicare beneficiaries more than once a month....
