Class Action Against GM Allowed To Proceed

Law360, New York (June 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A class action against General Motor Corp. over allegedly defective parking brakes in about 400,000 GM vehicles will be allowed to go forward, despite the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's position that failing to reverse the class certification order will have far-reaching negative consequences.

The Supreme Court of Arkansas rejected GM's interlocutory appeal of Miller County Circuit Court Judge Jim Hudson's decision to certify a class in the case on Thursday. The case was originally lodged in 2005 by named plaintiff Boyd Bryant.
