SEC Extends SOX Compliance Deadline Again

Law360, New York (June 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Small businesses now have one extra year to comply with the auditor attestation requirement of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, with a new deadline set after December 2009, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has announced.

Tthe commission said Friday that it had approved the extension and that the Office of Management and Budget had agreed to the SEC's proposal to collect data for a cost-benefit study of the attestation mandate's effect on smaller companies.
