Deadlocked Jury Prompts Mistrial In Tenet Case

Law360 (April 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has declared a mistrial in the criminal trial of Tenet Healthcare and one of its former executives after the jury failed to reach a verdict. This marks the second time a judge has tossed the Tenet case, and sets the stage for yet another trial.

In the case, prosecutors allege that Tenet subsidiary Tenet HealthSystem Hospitals and Alvarado Hospital Medical Center offered a group of physicians kickbacks in return for patient referrals.
