J&J Sued By Rival Over Contact Lenses

Law360, New York (April 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Extending a hard-fought battle over alleged infringement of contact lens patents, Ciba Vision Corp. has filed two fresh lawsuits against rival manufacturer Johnson & Johnson.

Delaware-based Ciba fired off the pair of lawsuits in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, accusing J&J of continuing to infringe its family of patents, also known as the Nicolson patents.

Ciba filed the first lawsuit over two types of J&J Acuvue Advance contacts, spherical and toric. Spherical lenses are used to correct nearsightedness and farsightedness, while...
