Bike Maker Sanctioned In Product Liability Suit

By Erin Coe (June 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A magistrate judge has ordered a manufacturer of children's bicycles to pay some of the legal fees for a plaintiff who brought a product liability suit after her son died by choking on a metal part that had come in the package with his new Spiderman bike.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan C. Torgerson ruled Friday that Cycle Source Group LLC should pay Stacy Locklear's attorneys' fees incurred in preparing her motion seeking sanctions based on certain disclosures the company made, despite objections from Cycle Source and the other defendants in the case, Kmart Corp. and Street Flyers LLC.
