E.U. Companies Fail To Use State Aid Laws

Law360, New York (April 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Companies in the European Union are failing to use national laws against illegal government subsidies that distort competition and give rival firms a competitive advantage, according to a survey conducted by the E.U. and several law firms.

The study, penned by the European Commission, showed that although E.U. regulations against state aid have been in place for decades, the current goal of increasing private actions in national courts to enforce them are not being met.
